Simon Packard
Simon is responsible for the art work on which our icons and graphics are based.
Simon is more familiar with working with solid materials such as wood and metal than
with computer screens and it was this that attracted the Network to his work. To
reflect the Network's friendly and organic style the network commissioned freehand
paintings and drawings, each of which is designed to be intuitive and yet different
from the majority of electronically-generated graphics found on most websites.
Simon trained at The Royal College of Art in Fine Arts in the late 1980s.
Now living in Gloucestershire he provides a wide range of work to UK and
internationally-based clients. His specialities include printmaking/design,
carved wood, metal work and large scale ceramic murals.
Combining professional practice with lecturing, Simon has taught at
universities and worked as an Artist-in-Residence in schools.
Private commissions are undertaken and examples of Simons' work can be seen at
the London Business School in the form of ceramic panels around the swimming pool
and at Hartbury Primary School in Gloucestershire. Exterior decorative gates and a
reception area comprising carved wood, cast glass and specially designed carpet
constitute his work as designer for Gloucestershire County Council.
